More on establishing your online identity

During the most recent Internet Marketing for Non-Profits seminar last Thursday the question was posed as to what services would be considered secondary...where registration would be prudent if there was some extra time to spend on the matter. So here are some suggestions:

1. Content publishing sites that have strong name recognition such as Wordpress, Typepad and Blogger. 2. Additional social media sites such as Xing. 3. Special purpose social networking sites such as LinkedIn, Careerbuilder, Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Ryze. 4. Social bookmarking sites such as Digg, Delicious, Reddit, StumbleUpon and Technorati. 5. Social photo publishing sites such as Flickr, Picasa, PBase and PhotoBucket.

For more ideas you can also check out the list of social media applications and sites on Wikipedia - go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_social_software

Finally, don't skip one last look at your list of registered domain names. Domain names represent the first line of defense when nailing in the stakes defining your online identity.

Thanks to Jonathan for the question!
